You sign in, get to work, close CapCut for the night — and the next morning it's asking you to log in all over again. Or worse, it boots you mid-project with a session expired message. When CapCut keeps logging out like this, it feels like the app doesn't trust you, and it breaks your flow every single time.
Here's the reassuring part: this is almost never a problem with your actual account. In the vast majority of cases, CapCut signs you out because of something small and fixable on your computer — an old app version, a corrupted login cache, or a clock that's drifted out of sync. Once you sort that out, you stay logged in like normal.
Work through the fixes below in order, easiest first. Reopen CapCut and check after each one rather than doing everything at once — that way you'll know exactly which step did the job.
- Most repeated logouts come from an outdated app, a corrupted login cache, or a system clock that's out of sync — not your account.
- Updating CapCut and syncing your PC or Mac clock fixes the majority of "session expired" loops.
- Signing into the same account on too many devices at once can quietly knock you out of the desktop app.
Why CapCut keeps logging you out
Before the fixes, it helps to know what's actually happening. When CapCut won't stay logged in, the cause is usually one of these:
- An outdated app version. Older builds can have login bugs that newer ones quietly fix. This is the single most common reason.
- A corrupted login cache. The small files that remember your session can get damaged, so CapCut can't reload your login and signs you out instead.
- A system clock that's out of sync. Login sessions are time-sensitive. If your PC or Mac clock is even a few minutes off, the server may treat your session as expired the moment you reopen the app.
- Multiple-device conflicts. Signing into the same CapCut account on several devices at once can push you out of one of them.
- Security software or a VPN blocking the connection CapCut needs to verify your session.
You don't have to figure out which one is yours. The steps below are ordered to rule out the easy, common causes first, so just go down the list.
1. Update CapCut to the latest version
Start here. If CapCut signs you out repeatedly, an outdated app is the likeliest cause by a wide margin. Login handling is exactly the kind of thing the team patches between releases, so an old build can keep dropping your session no matter what you do.
To check your version, open CapCut and look in the settings or account menu (usually under your profile icon or the Menu at the top). If an update is offered, install it and restart the app. If you'd rather grab a clean current installer, head to capcut.com and download the latest Windows or Mac version over your existing one.

2. Fix your system clock and time zone
This is the fix people overlook, and it's responsible for a surprising number of CapCut session expired messages. Login tokens are tied to the time on your machine. If your clock has drifted, CapCut compares it against the server, sees a mismatch, and decides your session is no longer valid — so it logs you out.
Set your clock to sync automatically:
On Windows:
- Right-click the clock in the taskbar and choose Adjust date and time.
- Turn on Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically.
- Click Sync now under "Additional settings."
On Mac:
- Open System Settings > General > Date & Time.
- Turn on Set time and time zone automatically.
Reopen CapCut and sign in again. If a drifted clock was the problem, you'll stay logged in from now on.
3. Clear the CapCut cache
If your login cache is corrupted, CapCut can't reliably reload your session, so it falls back to the sign-in screen every time. Clearing the cache forces the app to rebuild those files cleanly.
Many versions of CapCut have a built-in option: open Settings, look for a Cache or Storage section, and choose Clear cache. This is safe and won't touch your saved projects.
If you can't find that option, you can clear it manually:
- Windows: Close CapCut completely, then press Win + R, type
%localappdata%, and press Enter. Open the CapCut folder and delete the contents of anyCachesubfolder. Don't delete your projects folder. - Mac: Quit CapCut, open Finder, press Shift + Cmd + G, and go to
~/Library/Caches. Remove the CapCut cache folder there.
Restart CapCut and log in. With a fresh cache, the app should hold your session.
Heads up: Only clear the Cache folder. Avoid deleting the main CapCut data or projects folders, or you risk losing work.
4. Sign out fully, then sign back in
A clean, deliberate re-login often resets a glitchy session better than just clicking through the prompt again. The goal is to clear out whatever half-broken login state is causing the loop.
- Open CapCut and go to your account or profile area.
- Choose Log out (don't just close the app).
- Fully quit CapCut and reopen it.
- Sign back in using the same method you originally used — TikTok, Google, Facebook, email, or phone number.
Make sure you're signing in with the same account each time. It's easy to accidentally log in with Google one day and email the next, which can look like CapCut keeps logging you out when you're really bouncing between two accounts.
5. Avoid multiple-device login conflicts
If you use the same CapCut account on your laptop, desktop, and phone, they can step on each other. Signing in on one device can quietly invalidate the session on another, which shows up as the desktop app logging you out for no obvious reason.
To test whether this is your issue:
- Sign out of CapCut on devices you're not actively using, especially the mobile app.
- Log in on just your main computer and use it for a session or two.
- If the logouts stop, a device conflict was the cause.
You don't have to give up using CapCut elsewhere — just be aware that hopping between devices in quick succession is the kind of thing that triggers a fresh sign-in on the one you left behind.
6. Check your antivirus, firewall, and VPN
CapCut needs a steady connection to verify your login. If security software, a strict firewall, or a VPN interrupts that connection, the app can't confirm your session and drops you back to the login screen.
A few things to try:
- Pause your VPN and test CapCut on your normal connection. VPNs that frequently switch server locations are a common trigger for repeated sign-outs.
- Temporarily disable your antivirus (or its web/network shield) and see if you stay logged in. If you do, add an exception for CapCut rather than leaving protection off.
- Allow CapCut through your firewall so it can reach the login servers.
Always download from the source: Get CapCut only from the official site, capcut.com. Builds from third-party "download" sites are more likely to be flagged by security tools — and can have tampered login behavior that causes exactly this kind of problem.
7. Reinstall CapCut cleanly
If you've worked through everything above and CapCut still won't stay logged in, the installation itself is probably the issue — corrupted files, a half-applied update, or login data the earlier steps couldn't repair. A clean reinstall clears all of that out and fixes the stubborn cases.
- Close CapCut completely.
- Windows: Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find CapCut, and choose Uninstall. Mac: Quit CapCut and drag it from Applications to the Trash.
- Restart your computer to clear any leftover files.
- Go to capcut.com and download the latest installer for your system.
- Install it, open CapCut, and sign in.

Still getting signed out? Note exactly when it started — after an update, a new VPN, or signing in on another device. That timing is the biggest clue to what's really ending your session.
