You upgraded to CapCut Pro, the payment went through, and yet the Pro effects, templates, or export options are still grayed out with a little crown on them. Frustrating doesn't quite cover it — you paid for something and the app is acting like you didn't. When CapCut Pro is not working on desktop, it almost always comes down to a mismatch between your purchase and the account you're currently signed into, not a problem with your payment.

The good news: this is one of the more fixable issues in CapCut. In most cases your Pro entitlement is sitting safely on your account, and the app just hasn't pulled it through yet. A correct sign-in, a restore, and an update usually sort it out in a couple of minutes.

Work through the steps below in order. Reopen CapCut and check whether the Pro features have unlocked after each one, so you know exactly what did the trick.

Quick answer
  • Most of the time CapCut Pro is not working because you're signed into a different account than the one that paid — sign in with the purchasing account first.
  • Use the Restore purchases option and update the app; this re-syncs your subscription and unlocks the Pro features almost every time.
  • If your subscription still isn't showing after that, check its status in your account and contact CapCut support with your receipt.

Why CapCut Pro features stay locked after you pay

Before the fixes, it helps to understand what's going on. When you've paid but the CapCut Pro features are locked, the cause is usually one of these:

  • You're signed into the wrong account. This is the number one reason by a wide margin. CapCut lets you log in with TikTok, Google, Facebook, email, or phone. If you bought Pro while signed in with Google but later opened CapCut with your email login, the app sees a different account and shows everything as locked.
  • The purchase hasn't synced to this device. Subscriptions can take a few minutes to propagate, and sometimes the desktop app needs a nudge — a restore or a restart — to pick up an entitlement you bought elsewhere.
  • The app is out of date. Older builds can have trouble recognizing a current subscription, especially right after you upgrade.
  • The payment is still processing or didn't complete. Occasionally a charge is pending or was declined after an initial authorization, so Pro never actually activated.
  • Platform mismatch. A subscription bought through one store or platform may need to be tied to the same CapCut account you use on desktop before it shows up.

You don't need to diagnose which one is yours. The steps below rule out the common, easy causes first.

1. Sign in with the account that bought Pro

Start here, because this single step resolves most cases of CapCut Pro not working. Your subscription is attached to one specific account — the exact login you used at checkout. If you're signed in with anything else, CapCut genuinely doesn't see your Pro plan.

Think back to how you paid. Was it through TikTok? Google? An email and password? Then make sure that's the login you're using on desktop:

  1. Open CapCut and go to your profile or account area (usually your avatar in the top corner).
  2. If you're signed in, check which method is shown. If it's not the one you bought Pro with, log out.
  3. Sign back in using the same method you used when you purchased — same Google account, same email, same TikTok login.
  4. Reopen CapCut and check whether the crown icons are gone.

Tip: If you're not sure which account paid, check your email inbox for a CapCut or app store receipt. The address it was sent to, or the account named on the receipt, tells you exactly which login to use.

2. Use "Restore purchases"

Once you're on the correct account, the next move is to tell CapCut to re-check your entitlements. The CapCut Pro restore purchase option does exactly that — it asks the server, "Does this account have an active subscription?" and pulls it through if it does.

Look for a Restore purchases or Restore subscription button. It's typically found in:

  • Your account or profile settings, near the subscription or membership section, or
  • The CapCut Pro / upgrade screen itself, often as a small link at the bottom.

Tap it and give it a moment to finish. If your purchase is valid and tied to the account you're signed into, the Pro features should unlock right away. This is the step that fixes a CapCut Pro subscription not showing in the vast majority of cases, so don't skip it even if step one seemed to do nothing.

3. Update CapCut to the latest version

An outdated app can fail to recognize a subscription that's perfectly valid on the server side. Subscription handling is exactly the kind of thing that gets patched between releases, so running the current version clears up a lot of stubborn cases.

To update, open CapCut and look in the settings or menu for an update option. If one is offered, install it and restart the app. If you'd rather start clean, head to capcut.com and download the latest Windows or Mac version over your existing install — your projects and login stay intact.

After updating, sign in again if prompted, then run Restore purchases one more time. A fresh build plus a restore is a reliable combination for getting Pro to apply.

Reinstalling? If you decide to remove and reinstall CapCut, our guides for when CapCut won't install on Windows and installation fails on Mac cover the snags you might hit along the way.

4. Restart the app and your computer

It sounds basic, but a full restart forces CapCut to reconnect and re-read your account status from scratch — and that's often all a freshly activated subscription needs to show up.

  1. Quit CapCut completely. On Windows, make sure it isn't still running in the system tray or Task Manager. On Mac, use Cmd + Q rather than just closing the window.
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Reopen CapCut, confirm you're on the purchasing account, and check the Pro features again.

If you bought Pro only a few minutes ago, this is also a chance to let the purchase finish syncing. Sometimes the entitlement simply hadn't landed yet, and a restart after a short wait is enough.

5. Check your subscription status

If Pro still isn't unlocking, it's worth confirming the subscription is actually active and not, say, pending or expired. A charge can authorize and then fail to settle, or a free-trial conversion can quietly lapse — and in those cases there's nothing the app can restore.

Check the status in the place you bought it:

  • In CapCut: open your account or membership area and look for the subscription details. An active plan should show a renewal date.
  • Through your payment method: if you subscribed via an app store or platform store, open that store's subscription settings to confirm CapCut Pro is listed and active. This is also where you'd see a payment that's still pending or was declined.
  • In your email: a confirmation receipt means the purchase completed; a failed-payment notice means it didn't.

Heads up: If the store shows the subscription is active but it's linked to a different account than your CapCut login, that's your problem right there. Sign into CapCut with the account named on the receipt, then restore again.

6. Check your connection, VPN, and clock

CapCut has to reach its servers to verify your Pro status. If something is blocking or confusing that connection, the app can default to treating you as a free user even when you're not.

  • Confirm you're online with a stable connection, then run Restore purchases again. Entitlement checks can quietly fail on a flaky network.
  • Pause your VPN. A VPN that routes you through another region can interfere with how CapCut validates a subscription. Turn it off, restart the app, and check.
  • Sync your system clock. If your PC or Mac clock has drifted, time-sensitive checks can misfire. On Windows, turn on Set time automatically; on Mac, enable Set time and time zone automatically under Date & Time.

Once the connection is clean, one more restore usually pulls the subscription through.

7. Contact CapCut support

If you've confirmed the subscription is active, you're signed into the right account, you've restored, updated, and restarted — and Pro is still locked — it's time to let CapCut's team look at it. At this point the issue is on their end, and they can manually reconcile your purchase with your account.

Reach support through the official channels: the Help or Feedback option inside the app, or the support section on capcut.com. Have these details ready so they can find your purchase fast:

  • The account you use to sign into CapCut (the login method and the email or username).
  • Your receipt or order number from the confirmation email.
  • The date you bought Pro and the platform you paid through.
  • A short description of what's locked and which steps you've already tried.

Keep your receipt. The original purchase confirmation is the single most useful thing you can give support. It proves the payment and points them straight to the right account.
