Want to download CapCut on HP laptop hardware, or on a Dell or Lenovo, and wondering whether your brand needs some special trick? It doesn't. CapCut doesn't care what's printed on the lid — it only cares that you're running Windows, and all three brands run the same Windows you'd find anywhere else.

So the process is identical across the board. You go to the official site, download one installer, and run it. The only brand-specific wrinkles worth knowing about are the extras these manufacturers pile on at the factory: trial antivirus, support apps, and the odd bit of bloatware that can occasionally interrupt a download. We'll cover the standard steps first, then those small gotchas so nothing catches you off guard.

Quick answer
  • The brand of your laptop doesn't matter — HP, Dell, and Lenovo all run the exact same Windows installer.
  • Always download CapCut from the official site, capcut.com, and skip any third-party 'mirror' pages.
  • The only real differences are pre-installed antivirus and bloatware, which can occasionally slow the download or pop up a warning.

Why HP, Dell, and Lenovo are all the same here

It's easy to assume a CapCut download for a Dell laptop works differently from one on a Lenovo, but the assumption doesn't hold. CapCut is a Windows program. Once Windows is installed, your laptop is just a Windows PC, and the manufacturer's name has no bearing on how apps install or run.

That means a guide written for one brand applies to all of them. Whether you bought an HP Pavilion, a Dell Inspiron, a Lenovo IdeaPad, or any other model, you're following the exact same four or five steps. If you've already read our Windows 11 download walkthrough, you've essentially already learned how to put CapCut on any of these laptops.

The one thing that does matter is your Windows version and your hardware specs — not the brand. CapCut needs Windows 10 (version 1903 or newer) or Windows 11, which every reasonably modern HP, Dell, or Lenovo will have.

Quick spec check before you download

Brand aside, it's worth a ten-second look at what your laptop is running. The requirements are modest:

  • Windows: Windows 10 (version 1903 and later) or Windows 11.
  • RAM: 4 GB minimum; 8 GB or more keeps editing smooth.
  • Storage: Around 2–3 GB free for the app, plus space for your video files.
  • Internet: Needed for the download and for online features like templates and auto-captions.

Budget HP, Dell, and Lenovo models sometimes ship with only 4 GB of RAM and a smaller drive. CapCut will still install and run, but if your laptop is on the lighter side, our guide on running CapCut smoothly on a low-end PC has some practical tweaks to keep things responsive.

Step 1: Go to the official CapCut site

Open your browser — Edge, Chrome, whatever came on your laptop — and go to the official CapCut website at capcut.com. You can also use the Download button near the top of this page.

This step matters more than any other. Search results are littered with copycat pages that wrap the installer in adware or worse. The official domain is the only one you should trust. If a download page looks slightly off, close it and start again from capcut.com.

Step 2: Download the Windows installer

On the CapCut homepage, find the Download for Windows button. The site usually detects that you're on a Windows laptop and offers the right installer automatically — the same file whether you're on an HP, a Dell, or a Lenovo.

Click it, and your browser downloads a file named something like CapCut_installer.exe. It's typically in the 100–200 MB range and finishes in under a minute on a normal connection. You'll find it in your Downloads folder or the browser's download bar when it's done.

Step 3: Run the installer

Open the file you just downloaded and let it do its thing:

  1. Double-click CapCut_installer.exe.
  2. When Windows shows a User Account Control prompt asking whether to allow the app to make changes, click Yes. That prompt is normal for any installer.
  3. Pick an install location if asked — the default is fine for most people — then click Install.

The progress bar usually fills in 30–60 seconds, and CapCut often launches on its own when it's finished. Once it's open, you can drag a clip onto the timeline and start editing right away. For a tour of what to tweak first, see our notes on what to do after installing CapCut on PC.

Brand bloatware and antivirus: the small gotchas

Here's where HP, Dell, and Lenovo differ slightly — not in how CapCut installs, but in the software they ship from the factory. None of it stops you from installing CapCut, but a couple of things can briefly get in the way.

Pre-installed antivirus trials

Many new laptops come with a trial of McAfee or Norton (common on HP and Dell) or another security suite. These sometimes flag a brand-new installer simply because it's new, not because anything's wrong. If your antivirus quarantines or blocks CapCut_installer.exe after you downloaded it from the official site, you can safely allow it, or pause the antivirus for a minute and run the installer again.

Windows SmartScreen

Independent of the brand, Windows may show a blue "Windows protected your PC" box. Click More info, then Run anyway — but only do this when you're certain the file came from capcut.com.

Manufacturer 'helper' apps

Lenovo Vantage, HP Support Assistant, Dell SupportAssist and similar tools run in the background and occasionally throw their own pop-ups. They won't block CapCut, but if your laptop feels sluggish during the download, these background apps are often the culprit rather than CapCut itself.

Don't disable your security for good. If you pause antivirus to get past a false alarm, turn it back on the moment CapCut is installed. The goal is to get one trusted installer through, not to leave your laptop unprotected.

If the download won't finish or the app won't open

Most installs go smoothly, but if something stalls, work through these in order:

  • Download stops partway: A flaky connection or an aggressive antivirus is usually to blame. Pause your security app, clear the partial file from Downloads, and start the download again.
  • Install fails near the end: Check you have at least 2–3 GB of free disk space — easy to run short on a smaller HP or Lenovo drive — then retry.
  • CapCut won't launch after installing: Restart the laptop. Manufacturer startup apps sometimes hold onto resources, and a reboot clears that up.
  • Still stuck: Uninstall any half-finished copy from Settings > Apps, restart, and reinstall fresh from capcut.com.

These steps are the same regardless of whether you're on HP, Dell, or Lenovo, because the underlying Windows is the same.
